Why VidNotes exists
Most learning happens on video now. Lectures get recorded. Meetings live on Zoom. Tutorials sit on YouTube. The problem is that video is linear and unsearchable. You can't skim it the way you skim a document, you can't search for a specific sentence, and you can't grab a quote or highlight a passage.
VidNotes closes that gap. It turns video into text, then uses AI to pull out structure, summaries, and the points that actually matter. The goal is simple: turn hours of video into minutes of reading without losing the parts you came for.
Our approach
Accuracy first
Everything else depends on getting the transcript right. VidNotes uses speech-to-text models that handle different accents, technical jargon, and fast talkers across 30+ languages. When the transcript is solid, the summaries, flashcards, and search results all improve with it.
Privacy by design
Your videos and transcripts belong to you. VidNotes processes content securely, doesn't keep video files after transcription, and stores transcript data locally on your device. You decide what gets exported, shared, or deleted. We never sell user data.
Apple-native experience
VidNotes is built with SwiftUI and SwiftData, made for the Apple ecosystem from the start. It runs natively on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro with the speed and polish you'd expect from a real native app. No Electron wrappers. No web views holding the core features together.

Built by Paweł Karniej
VidNotes is built by Paweł Karniej, a mobile developer who switched from logistics to coding in 2018. After years of freelancing and shipping products in different industries, he started Silpho App Studio to focus on building useful apps for the Apple ecosystem. VidNotes came out of a simple frustration. Video is everywhere, and yet searching, quoting, and reviewing it is harder than it should be.
Paweł works with React Native and SwiftUI, and has shipped products like Newsletterytics, Coldsmith, TeleprompterX, and more. The approach is pretty hands-on. Find a real problem, ship a working solution fast, then iterate based on what users say. VidNotes gets weekly updates driven by actual user requests.
Who uses VidNotes
Students save TikTok study clips next to lecture recordings and turn both into study guides. Creators pull transcripts from Instagram Reels and YouTube long-forms to repurpose into captions and scripts. Professionals run meeting recordings through it for transcripts and action items.
