Why VidNotes exists
Video is the dominant medium for learning, communication, and knowledge sharing. Lectures are recorded. Meetings happen on Zoom. Tutorials live on YouTube. But video has a fundamental problem: it is linear and unsearchable. You cannot skim a video the way you skim a document. You cannot search for a specific sentence. You cannot copy a quote or highlight a passage.
VidNotes was built to bridge this gap. By converting video into text and applying AI to extract structure, summaries, and key insights, VidNotes makes video content as accessible and useful as written documents. The goal is simple: save people time by turning hours of video into minutes of reading, without losing any of the important information.

Transcription quality is the foundation everything else depends on. VidNotes uses state-of-the-art speech-to-text models that handle diverse accents, technical vocabulary, and fast speakers across 30+ languages. When the transcript is accurate, the summaries, flashcards, and search results are all better.
Privacy by design
Your videos and transcripts are your data. VidNotes processes content securely, does not store video files after transcription, and keeps all transcript data on your device using local storage. You control what gets exported, shared, or deleted. We never sell user data.
Apple-native experience
VidNotes is built with SwiftUI and SwiftData, designed specifically for the Apple ecosystem. It runs natively on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro with the performance and design quality you expect from a native app. No Electron wrappers, no web views for core functionality.

Built by Paweł Karniej
VidNotes is built by Paweł Karniej, a mobile developer who transitioned from logistics to coding in 2018. After years of freelancing and building products across different industries, he founded Silpho App Studio to focus on shipping useful apps for the Apple ecosystem. VidNotes grew out of a simple frustration: video content is everywhere, but searching, quoting, and reviewing it is unnecessarily hard.
Paweł builds with React Native and SwiftUI, and has shipped multiple products including Newsletterytics, Coldsmith, TeleprompterX, and others. His approach to product development is hands-on: identify a real problem, ship a working solution fast, and iterate based on user feedback. VidNotes receives weekly updates driven by what users actually ask for.
