Custom connector setup
Use your video knowledge in Muse.
Connect VidNotes to retrieve transcripts, compare videos, and find your saved notes from a Muse conversation.
This guide covers a custom connector. It does not indicate approval or directory placement by Meta.
1. Create a VidNotes key
Sign in to VidNotes. Open Settings, then Developer platform. Create a separate key named Muse. The key connects Muse to your VidNotes account. Your existing limits and paid feature requirements still apply.
Open VidNotes settingsCopy the key when VidNotes displays it. Enter it only in Muse's secure credential field.
2. Ask Muse to connect
Open Muse and paste this message. Muse access is required. Keep your API key out of the conversation text.
Create a VidNotes custom connector using https://mcp.vidnotes.app/mcp?client=muse.
Use remote Streamable HTTP with an Authorization: Bearer token.
Request my VidNotes API key through secure credential entry. Do not request it in chat.
Read https://vidnotes.app/muse-connector.md for the workflow instructions.
Check my usage with vidnotes_get_usage. Show any connection error before proceeding.
Save the connection for future conversations.
When I provide a video, use background analysis and poll the returned job.
Return source links and timestamps when available. Do not invent timestamps.Server address: https://mcp.vidnotes.app/mcp?client=muse
3. Use a video or your saved notes
- "Summarize this YouTube lecture. Include source timestamps when available." Add a public YouTube link.
- "Compare these videos. Explain their shared topics and different conclusions." Add two or more public YouTube links.
- "Find my saved notes about pricing. Show their source videos."
- "Create study notes and quiz questions from this lecture." Add a public YouTube link.
Open a new Muse conversation and check your VidNotes usage again to confirm that the connection persists.
Connection help
- The key does not work
- Check the Bearer authorization header. Create a replacement in VidNotes Settings if the key was revoked.
- The video takes time
- Ask Muse to use background analysis and check the returned job. Repeated submissions can use more quota.
- A transcript or paid feature is unavailable
- Muse should show the returned error. Check your source and account limits before trying again.
- Disconnect VidNotes
- Remove the connection in Muse. Revoke the Muse key in VidNotes Settings to stop future API access.
The connection label helps us count Muse requests. It does not change access or prices.
